10 Things I Learned During Balletcore Recital
1. The ‘performance’ is the time, energy and work that you put into it. Performance day is just a moment in time.
2. Whatever happens, happens.
3. I’m more comfortable with the idea of love and attention than I am actually receiving it. I want to work on that.
4. Moments like this are few and far between, keep a camera with you at all times.
5. Feel your feelings, take your time, this is a safe space.
6. Never take your abled body for granted, it brings so much joy to you and to others. Practice gratitude.
7. I’m an ugly crier, but even tears can be beautiful when you’re caught up in the moment with people you love.
8. At the end of the day, it’s the ones who showed up to your adult ballet recital. I am blessed to have found my people.
9. February 3 marked the 3 year anniversary of my grandmother’s death. She would have been 105. Her name, Carmen.
10. The performance may be over but this is only the beginning.
